Day 5 - 27th April 2004 - More of the same stuff

Spent the day fixing up the wall again. Just Phil & Susan today. First job of the day was putting in new light switch, found the main power board and made the job safe. Got stuck into the bricks at the bottom of the opening, cleaned up the vertical bricks. Dad spent a bit of time putting up the wood architraves, making it nice and neat, even including a bit of joinery. Took a bit of time getting out the old steel architraves, had to cut the carpet clear, and pull them up from the ground below the wood floors. Some more mortaring had to be done to fix up a bit of shaky plaster. Lots of little jobs today, so didn't get all we needed to get done, but other than that a productive day.

Timber floor people quoted today. Their take on the hole in the floor under the new opening is to put in two boards to fill the gap rather than matching the boards the same way. Reason being is that the boards don't exactly match up from one side of the hole to the other, bit of a problem. Although there is still the problem of the boards not exactly being the same level from one side to the other, apparently this can be easily fixed.

Pictures of the outdoors areas, just to show the big difference (hopefully) at the end when this all looks nice and clean and beautiful...
