Today is the big one, the wall coming down! Off to the Hardware store today to buy the bits needed for the wall. Final decision was that a return on both sides was the go, just so it gave more walls to put things against, and also it is the easiest option while still opening the place up. Went with the option of putting a lentil bar up to hold the weight rather than going to the ceiling, so we didn't have to replace cornices.

Kitchen guy came around, small dilemna's there, putting in a pantry just blew the kitchen out way to far, so no pantry, just have to use the linen cupboard instead as part pantry. Also going without a fridge recess at this stage, will check that out tomorrow, probably wouldn't be a bad idea to still put one in.

Did the neighbourly thing and let them know of reno's (no. 1 & 3). Great people, seem pretty easy going.

Started on the wall at about 11.30 or so. First cleaned up the original door, taking out the architrave etc. Cut the top of the hole with an angle grinder with a Masonry wheel, cut an extra line two bricks down so easy to chop out the horizontal line without causing too much friction to the wall. Other side vertical was then cut out. Out came the sledgehammer and presto! no wall. Next task the lentil was put in and mortared up the gaps. Finished up about 4.30 or so. Big day, big results. Looks great!

Well done Dad, Andrew & Susan!
